Low-Level Painter Apartment in Arts Quarter

Welcome back to San Myshuno 🎨 In this post, I’m sharing my Painter’s Apartment build — a cozy, low-income loft designed for a young artist just starting their career in The Sims 4. This apartment is part of my Careers of San Myshuno series, where I create spaces inspired by the Sims’ professions and lifestyles.

Located at 910 Medina Studios in the Arts Quarter, this build perfectly captures that “creative chaos” energy — leaky pipes, thrifted furniture, and walls covered in paint and dreams. Rent is low, space is tight, but inspiration is everywhere. 🎨✨

About the Build

This small one-bedroom loft was created for a Sim who’s just beginning their painter career. It’s far from perfect — cracked walls, mismatched furniture, and city noise — but that’s what gives it character. The apartment has the TLC trait from City Living, meaning your Sim might experience leaky pipes and rats hanging around at night. Still, it’s the perfect first step toward a creative life in San Myshuno.

I wanted this build to feel lived-in and honest — a space that reflects the struggle and beauty of an early-career artist. Every corner tells a story of passion, persistence, and paint stains.

Design & Aesthetic Choices

🎨 Color Palette

The walls are a mix of soft white bricks and light concrete, keeping the space airy and letting the paintings add all the color. I used lots of warm tones — oranges, creams, soft greens — plus clutter to create that organized chaos every artist knows. The natural light from the windows gives the whole apartment a gentle glow during the day.

🛋️ Interior Details

  • Living Area: A small sofa, old stereo, and a few framed photos create a chill vibe. I used an old base-game couch and a rug from Growing Together, adding personality without luxury. There’s also a bookshelf divider from Discover University that subtly splits the space.
  • Kitchen: Budget-friendly counters, an old stove, and a rusty workshop sink give this space a realistic low-income charm. I also added some clutter from the Kitchen Clutter Kit to make it feel lived-in and cozy.
  • Bedroom Corner: Tucked behind a hanging clothing rack and mirror divider, the bed area uses recycled items and soft fabrics. The bed is from debug (Eco Lifestyle), while the crate nightstand, rug, and fairy lights make it warm and personal.
  • Bathroom: Simple white tiles, concrete flooring, and a bathtub with a decorative showerhead. I added a striped rug and a few personal touches like photo stickers on the mirror to make it feel like a real artist’s home.
  • Studio Corner: The heart of the apartment — messy easel, colorful clutter, and paint-splattered floor. I used items from the Workshop Kit and High School Years to fill it with life and texture. This is where the magic happens!

🎨 Painter Career Spotlight

The Painter career in The Sims 4 is Base Game content, so anyone can play it. Your Sim starts as a Palette Cleaner, earning around §21/hour — just enough to pay rent (barely!). At level 6, you can choose between two branches: Patron of the Arts and Master of the Real. Both can lead to great success, but those early levels are tough — which makes this apartment the perfect fit for an aspiring artist.

The Arts Quarter is full of creative energy, with murals, festivals, and the city art gallery just steps away. Your Sim can join the local scene, sell their work, or dream of the day their paintings hang in a San Myshuno exhibition.

Gameplay & Functionality

This apartment is fully functional and playtested. It’s ideal for single Sims in creative careers — especially painters, freelancers, or artists. It includes items from Base Game, City Living, Lovestruck, Eco Lifestyle, Growing Together etc. Despite its budget look, every item is usable, and the lot runs smoothly even on modest PCs.
